50 years of ESA

The Task

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the European Space Agency we were tasked to create a montage style film showcasing the organisations highlights over the years.

Our Solution

This was a large editing project as we were using historical material and archive footage which needed extensive grading and noise reduction. Dealing with 35mm to 16mm film and 4:3 ratio footage which had varying degrees of quality and condition, we produced a technical graphic overlay to make everything look coherent, giving the film a 21st century look and feel. The final film was produced in six language versions.

The process for the delivery of this project required multiple review stages. Firstly, a written treatment and content outline were produced and approved. We then produced a script and an enhanced content outline, followed by the first assembly with a guide voice over. We then reviewed a fine-tuned first edit and guide track, which determined the final edit produced with a professional voice over and graphics.
