Hey there! I’m Hugo, the Multimedia Director here at World Wide Group. I’m responsible for directing shoots and coordinating live events that mirror our clients’ visions. What makes my job the best role anyone could wish for? The diversity of projects that come my way every single week. And, since our clients operate across every continent worldwide, the biggest perk of my role is all the travelling and places I get to see on the job! From overseeing operations, to getting hands on setting up AV equipment and filming, no two days are ever the same for me….. and let me tell you, this week was no exception!
My journey kicked off with me flying from Washington DC to Texas to shoot several piece to camera interviews for one of our largest clients, an international technology company. Armed with top-tier cameras, mics, lighting and audio, we transformed the space into a professional and crisp studio. We collaborated closely with our client’s own producer, working through what was required during each interview. Sticking to schedule, we finished the shoot up in one day and the client was super happy with the end result.
From Texas, I then made the trip to Turkey for another shoot with one of our returning clients, a British software company. Similarly, they tasked us with capturing several piece to camera interviews which would create a government official explainer video. Our client wanted us to highlight the incredible processes they were implementing to ensure the health and wellbeing of the Istanbul population. Set up with two cameras, a handheld gimbal, audio and strategic lights, we filmed the interview. We also captured b-roll over several locations, including a water treatment facility that showcased our clients remarkable work in the city. The content was sent to our client for their producer to edit and publish across social media and various government websites.
World Wide Group has had a working relationship with the European Space Agency (ESA) for over 35 years. I’m lucky enough to say that this year, I joined the team responsible for our contract with ESA and had the chance to work on the incredible launch of Juice, ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moon Explorer. Our team contributed to the launch programme, providing audio visual content from shoots across the world including Australia, French Guiana and Germany. We also supported a TV studio setup inside the European Space Operations Centre, which showcased the multi-country collaboration covering the launch of the satellite. Juice was the first ever spacecraft to orbit a moon in the outer solar system so as far as projects go, this one was a favourite of mine!
After all my globe trotting, I lastly flew to the UK, where I visited our headquarters and spent the week working on projects… this time from the comfort of the office! When I was away from behind the camera, I tended to focus on each countries local cuisine. In Turkey, I succumbed to my sweet tooth and enjoyed the best Baklava I have ever tasted. Italy does indeed have the best wine, pizza and pasta ever made by mankind, and in the UK I enjoyed the British delicacy that is Fish and Chips!
So there you have it! My whirlwind week travelling the globe, working with clients and being involved in a groundbreaking moment for the science industry! Our team are always working on exciting new projects so stay tuned to see what’s next for WWG.
